Birthday Issue does not have accounts, does not have servers, and does not send anything anywhere. Everything you create, the names, dates, photos, and words you put into an issue, stays on your device. We never see it, and neither does anyone else, unless you choose to share the finished PDF yourself.
When you build an issue, Birthday Issue saves the following, on your device only:
All of this lives in the app's local database on your device. None of it is transmitted anywhere, backed up to any server we run, or visible to us in any form.
Birthday Issue uses Apple's system photo picker to let you choose pictures for an issue. Because of how that picker works, the app never has general access to your photo library. It only ever receives the specific photos you actively pick.
Once picked, a photo is stored inside the app's local database on your device, the same as the rest of an issue's content, and it is never uploaded anywhere. If you delete an issue, or delete the app, the photos you added to that issue are removed along with it.
There is no sign-up, no login, and no account of any kind. Birthday Issue has no server, so there is nothing for your information to be sent to. The app works the same with your device in airplane mode as it does with a full signal.
Birthday Issue does not schedule or send any notifications.
Birthday Issue does not request or use your location, your camera, your contacts, or any health or fitness data. It does not ask for any of these permissions.
Printing and sharing a finished issue is unlocked through a single one-time purchase, handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your card number, billing address, or any other payment detail; Apple processes the purchase and tells the app only whether it succeeded.
Nothing. We do not collect analytics, usage data, device identifiers, or diagnostic information of any kind. There are no advertising or analytics services built into Birthday Issue.
Birthday Issue does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information at all. Everything an issue contains is entered by the person using the app and stays on that person's device.
Your issues stay on your device for as long as you keep the app installed. Deleting an issue inside the app removes it immediately. Deleting the app removes everything Birthday Issue ever stored, including every issue, every photo, and every sealed letter.
If this policy changes, we will update this page and change the effective date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
