Dogeared ("the App") is developed by Canyon Sky Rain LLC ("we," "us," "our"), a Utah limited liability company. Dogeared turns a photo and one line about your dog's day into affectionate, newspaper-style coverage, written entirely on your device, and lets you print it as designed, shareable cards. The App has no accounts and no server: we never receive, see, or collect anything you do in the App. This policy explains exactly what stays on your device, confirms there is nothing else to explain, and covers the choices you have.
Everything in Dogeared, your dog's facts, the press-profile interview answers, every story's headline and text, every photo you choose, and the dates you set, is stored only on your iPhone. None of it is transmitted to Canyon Sky Rain LLC or to anyone else, because the App makes no network requests of its own. The App collects no analytics, shows no ads, uses no tracking SDKs, and does not request the advertising identifier. We could not identify a single Dogeared user even if we wanted to.
All of this lives in the App's own local SwiftData store on your device. It is not synced to iCloud, not backed up to us, and not shared with other users or other apps. Nothing in this list ever leaves your phone.
None of its own. Dogeared makes no network requests of its own; the only connection is Apple's StoreKit, for the optional purchase. We checked the entire source tree for URLSession, HTTP/HTTPS calls, and every common third-party SDK, and found none: no AdMob, no Firebase, no analytics package, no CloudKit, no Supabase, and no other backend. There is no .entitlements file in the app at all, so it holds no iCloud, push, or CloudKit capability of any kind.
The only "writer" the App consults is Apple's own on-device Foundation Models framework, which runs the language model locally on your iPhone. When that on-device model isn't available, the App falls back to its own built-in, deterministic template writer, also entirely on-device. Neither path sends your dog's tip, photo, or any other information anywhere.
Dogeared does not send notifications. The App requests no notification permission and schedules nothing locally or remotely.
Dogeared does not use your camera, does not request Location/Contacts/HealthKit access, and does not request Photo Library access in the traditional sense: photos are chosen through Apple's system Photo Picker (PhotosPicker), which hands the App only the specific image you select and never asks for or grants broader library permission. No permission dialog appears for photos because none is needed.
When you tap to share a story, the App renders a designed image (Front Page, Adventure Poster, or Trading Card) on your device and hands it to the standard iOS share sheet. Where you send it from there, whether Messages, Instagram, Photos, or anywhere else, is entirely your choice, made through Apple's own share sheet; we are not told about it and never see the image or where it goes.
Dogeared is a free download with one optional in-app purchase, the Lifetime Edition, a one-time $6.99 purchase (no subscription) that adds the other card styles, an unlimited archive, the Bound Edition, and Special Editions. Your first dog, the Front Page card style, and your first five stories are free. The purchase is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store; we never receive or store your payment details, and the App only checks, on your device, whether Apple's own purchase record shows the unlock.
Nothing. There is no analytics package, no crash-reporting SDK, no advertising, and no third-party tracking of any kind in the App. If you email us for support, we receive only what you choose to send us, and we use it only to help you.
Dogeared is a general-audience app for dog owners. It is not directed at children under 13, and because the App collects no information from anyone, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children or from anyone else.
Because everything is stored locally, deleting the App from your iPhone removes all of it, your dog's profile, every story, every photo, and every setting, permanently. There is nothing on our side to retain or delete, because we never received a copy of any of it in the first place.
We may update this policy as the App changes. Material changes will be reflected with an updated "Last updated" date above.
