Turnglass ("the App") is developed by Canyon Sky Rain LLC ("we," "us," "our"), a Utah limited liability company. Turnglass is a kaleidoscope app: each kaleidoscope, or scope, is a chamber of colored glass that tumbles as you tilt your phone, and you can make your own scopes and send them to people as gifts. The App asks nothing about who you are: there are no accounts, and we never receive, see, or collect anything you do in the App. Turnglass has no server of any kind.
Everything in Turnglass (your scopes, their names, the tags and messages on gifts you send or receive) is stored only on your iPhone. The App does not send any of it to us or to anyone else. It shows no ads, includes no analytics or crash-reporting code, and does not ask for the advertising identifier. A gift leaves your phone only when you send it yourself, through Apple's share sheet, to the person you choose.
All of this lives in two small files in the App's own storage on your iPhone. It is not synced to iCloud by the App and is not sent to us. Like the rest of your phone's apps, it may be included in your own iPhone backup if you have backups turned on. Deleting the App deletes it.
None of our own. Turnglass makes no network requests of its own. The only outside service involved is Apple's App Store, which iOS contacts when you view, buy or restore the Workbench Key. There is no content server, no analytics endpoint, no crash reporter, and no third-party code built into the App.
The Workbench can take the colors for a scope's glass from a photo. You choose the photo through Apple's standard system photo picker, which does not give the App access to your photo library; the App receives only the one photo you pick, and iOS does not show a permission prompt for it. The App reads the photo's main colors on your phone and keeps only those colors. The photo itself is not stored by the App and is never uploaded. If you save a plate to Photos, iOS may first ask whether the App can add photos; that permission lets the App add images, not see your library.
The glass moves with your phone's tilt, read from the motion sensors while a scope is on screen. Motion readings are used live to move the glass and are not stored or sent anywhere. Every sound in the App is generated on your phone. The App does not use the microphone.
Turnglass does not use your location, contacts, camera, microphone, or health data, and it sends no notifications.
When you keep a plate (a still image of your scope), the App hands the image to the standard iOS share sheet. When you send a scope as a gift, the App creates a small .turnglass file holding that scope's design and the tag you wrote (your From name, your message, and the date), and hands it to the share sheet. Where either one goes from there (Messages, Mail, AirDrop, Photos, Files, or anywhere else) is your choice, made outside the App, and we are never told about it. Anyone you send a gift to can read the tag you wrote.
When you open a .turnglass file someone sent you, the App reads that scope and its tag onto your shelf. It does not report back to the sender or to us.
Turnglass is free to download. The Workbench Key, which opens unlimited making at the Workbench, is a one-time in-app purchase made through Apple. Apple handles the payment and does not share your payment details or Apple Account with us. To know whether the key is yours, the App asks Apple on your iPhone whether this Apple Account owns it; nothing about that check is sent to us. Like every developer, we receive only Apple's aggregate sales reports, which do not identify you.
Turnglass is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
If the App ever changes how it handles information, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date before the change ships.
